This web site provides information about the Virtual Exhibit Software that is compatible with PastPerfect, a major collections management program used by many museums to catalogue their collections. The web site also provides examples of web sites generated by the software.
Canada has one of the most extensive collections of virtual museum exhibits. Many Canadian online exhibits incorporate all the forms of media including pictures, videos, sound clips, and interactive activities in one fun and informative exhibit. This web site provides an extensive collection of online exhibits from museums across Canada.
The Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History web site provides an excellent collection of online museum exhibits ranging in topic from history to natural science. Many of the exhibits demonstrate how interactive activities can enhance the online museum experience.
The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum web site houses a plethora of virtual exhibits, many of which contain excellent examples of the use of oral history interview recordings to enhance an exhibit.
