Bob Peterson of Pixar visits ONU

Bob Peterson spent a day at ONU on Monday, March 15, 2010. The initial contact with for this day came through Margot Cullen, an English professor, who shared her hope for Peterson’s visit with Eric Baumgartner, Dean of the College of Engineering. They were joined by Ann Donnelly, director of Alumni Relations, who coordinated the events, leading a committee who planned the details. Also, as we see in the section above, ONU graduating senior Harry Walker visited Peterson at Pixar in 2010.
Peterson began his day on March 15 at a two-hour seminar running in the Dickie forum arranged by Cullen. She invited about forty students, drawn from her screenwriting workshop and course, eMEdia website, as well as the Art and Communications departments. Using a multimedia format, Peterson presented his personal history at Pixar, as well as information about the studio’s creative process. After about an hour, he fielded questions from the students, then relaxed with them at a reception at the Dickie Atrium until lunch at eleven thirty.
After lunch, Peterson conducted a seminar with the engineering students, followed by media interviews. At a dinner hosted by the Engineering College, Peterson accepted the first Engineering Distinguished Alumni Award. Afterwards, he delivered the annual Spotts lecture to a crowd of 1,600 eager people from the engineering community, ONU, and the surrounding area. The event was also live streamed on the ONU website.
The ONU Communication and Marketing department created a video, as well as a series of photographs from the day that are presented below. Surely Bob Peterson’s return to ONU was a memorable occasion for all involved.
